GLT - Business Solutions

Feasibility Study

Feasibility studies involve an understanding of the problem area, conceptualising possible solutions and evaluating these solutions from an implementation standpoint keeping in mind various parameters such as costs, timelines and technology.

Alternatives are evaluated for delivery of business benefits, such as:
• Enable faster time to market with new products and services
• Increased revenue per customer that supports organic growth
• Lower total cost of ownership of business applications
• Greater automation and better processing for significant gains in turn around time, productivity and efficiency
• Maximized return on investment with quicker paybacks

GLT has undertaken several feasibility studies for customers based on the right-shoring model.

Gap Analysis

This includes understanding and documenting the current processes and systems, and mapping these against the new proposed processes and systems in order to identify the gaps and ensure that the new processes and system(s) address these areas completely.

Gap Analysis is undertaken, when:
• A legacy system is being replaced by a new system (custom built/third party product).
• No legacy application exists and an existing application/product is to be implemented

Gap analysis focuses on:
• Analysis of the current business practices/processes and evaluate how the current systems support these.
• Study of the business systems needs (current and potential), with a focus on business process optimisation.
• Identify gaps between the current business practice/business system needs and the proposed application/applications.

Business Process Re-engineering

When the business anticipates needs for IT enhancements or overhauls, it is typical in large and dynamic businesses like HSBC’s to unearth the need for process and workflow changes to meet global and local performance goals and align with new technologies. GLT leverages on its techno-functional advantage to work with the customer on large and medium scale BPR studies followed by disciplined and objective oriented implementation to fulfil the Group strategies.

Requirements Management

The Business environment is constantly changing. The processes and systems must undergo a change to support dynamic business needs.

Anticipating, understanding and documenting business requirements, hence, become critical. GLT, because of its rich experience in projects, has strong requirements management capabilities.

Requirements management at GLT includes:
• Gathering and analysing requirements at the inception of the project
• Evaluating requirements for Completeness, Consistency, Feasibility, Independence and ‘Testability’
• Prioritising requirements based on client’s business needs
• Change request analysis and management
• Ensuring requirements traceability throughout the development life cycle
• GLT uses contemporary tools and methodologies such as UML, Rationale and Requisite Pro for analysing requirements and impact (for change requests). Tools such as traceability matrix are used to trace requirements throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
