Process and Quality Framework (PQM)
Achieving Quality is a universal dream, yet, for GLT it is a mission. This company declares its aim unequivocally as “To provide Quality Technology Solutions and Support to the Customer in a timely and cost-efficient manner, in line with the Group Standards.”
Since, the raison d’etre of GLT is to create quality technology solutions, the setup is structured to achieve this. Our strong process framework involves the following:
Use of Optimus: ‘Optimus’ is a Process and Learning Repository, which makes the application of the formal process philosophy at GLT more efficient. Optimus can be compared to a library. Here instead of books, it is a collection of various processes, templates, guidelines, checklists and forms. These can be borrowed and used as per the need. Optimus guides all software development, maintenance, and support activities at GLT. It is the primary reference document for the process and quality philosophy at GLT and is completely aligned to the Risk Based Project Management (RBPM) approach of GLT.
Project Management
GLT uses a market leader Project Management tool – Niku, for project management, tracking, scheduling and time tracking.
Centres of Excellence:
Akin to R&D, GLT is in the process of establishing various centres of excellence (CoE) in the areas of Testing and Project Management.
The Niku CoE:
The market leader Niku is not just a tool for GLT. Sensing the potential of this standard Project Management software, GLT is partnering with the Niku Central Team (NCT) at its headquarters. The Niku CoE was established in March 2004, and aims at rolling out Niku to all the IT development centers. Till date, along with NCT UK, as well as independently, it has worked on several implementations. The Niku CoE also provides functional and administrative global support to the ever-increasing Niku community.
The Niku CoE team comprises of a mix of functional and support analysts and developers who work towards fulfilling the Group's Niku-related needs. The team provides training, mentoring, support and development of Management Information (MI) reports.
Testing CoE:
With the IT industry becoming more and more overwhelming by the minute, testing the software itself is becoming a specialized field. The Testing CoE is one of the fastest growing units of GLT. Even in the current initial phases, GLT’s foray into the world of testing is proving to be a right decision. With the qualified talent pool of testing professionals, the GLT Testing CoE aims at establishing testing competence and capabilities and providing variable capacity for various testing solutions to our customers.
The Testing CoE was set up in March 2004 with only one project (Web System testing) and a team size of 16 professionals. Since then, the Testing CoE has grown at a rapid pace. This growth has far surpassed the expectations or projections. It currently has a team of about 130 people and 9 projects in its portfolio. While we are on a steep learning curve, we have also ensured that quality is maintained. The customer’s feedback vouches for the level of professionalism maintained at the Testing CoE and indicates that we are on the right track.
