Group Messaging Gateway (GMG)
The Challenge
GMG replaces the Telegraphic Processing (TP) System as the group’s interface to SWIFT in order to:
• Contain system complexities of TP
• Ensure business continuity to handle platform technical obsolescence
• Provide platform independence and minimize vendor risk
• Minimise effort and cost intensive system maintenance
• Align to SWIFT changes like Swift Net, Public Key Infrastructure, etc.
The biggest challenge was to identify redundancy in the functionality that exists in TP, while bringing in new functionality to support changing business needs.
The challenge was also to rationalize the message handling mechanism with a new workflow to which the global business had to align.
Implementation of such a large system across the globe requires hundreds of person-months of focused and disciplined change management.
